La aplicación funciona mediante la integración con back-end de scripts PHP finde de buscar, recuperar y formato, libros de Gutenberg. Para abook formato, en primer lugar el archivo de texto de que fromGutenberg libro debe ser descargados - sólo entonces puede ser cortado en pequeños, chunksand digerible enviado al usuario como una página del libro.
La processcentres formato de todo el ancho de la pantalla del teléfono, siempre a petición ofthe tiempo. El URI para casi todos los libros disponibles fromGutenberg se almacenan en una base de datos - la base de datos se utiliza el mismo forproviding la funcionalidad de búsqueda dentro de la application.
Tera móvil Wurfl también se utiliza detrás de las escenas, para descubrir thecapabilities de un dispositivo de formular una petición y para registrar los phonesare utilizando mi solicitud.
Después de probar muchas de las tecnologías de interfaz de usuario forJ2ME, decidí ir con J2ME polaco para manipular la interfaceof mi solicitud.
Lo elegí porque es ligero, libre y uno de los más favorecidos en la industria. Una vez que una página es enviado de vuelta a thephone de mi script, J2ME polaca es más utilizada para hacer thepage según la configuración establecida en el dispositivo del usuario fordisplaying un libro. La página del libro se guarda a su colección ownprivate, que el usuario puede ver y modificar cada vez que want.
Caching se realiza automáticamente en el dispositivo en segundo plano para theuser no tiene que esperar para abrir la siguiente página.
Caching es también doneserver lado Funda un usuario solicita el mismo libro y página de configuración matchestheir y ya ha sido cortado en trozos - es donewhen un usuario abre la página de un libro, suponiendo que van a querer toopen la página siguiente - y es además se realiza cuando un usuario realiza aSearch suponiendo que van a querer abrir uno de los booksreturned de la búsqueda.

The application works by integrating with backend PHP scripts inorder to search, retrieve and format, books from Gutenberg. To format abook, first the text file of that book must be downloaded fromGutenberg — only then can it be cut up into smaller, digestible chunksand sent back to the user as a page of the book. The formatting processcentres around the screen width of the phone, provided at the time ofthe request. The URIs for almost all of the books available fromGutenberg are stored in a database — this same database is used forproviding the search functionality within the mobile application.Tera-WURFL is also used behind the scenes, for discovering thecapabilities of a device making a request and to record which phonesare using my application. After trying out many UI technologies forJ2ME, I decided to go with J2ME Polish for manipulating the interfaceof my application. I chose it because it’s lightweight, free and one ofthe most favoured in the industry. Once a page is sent back to thephone from my script, J2ME Polish is further utilised to render thepage according to the configuration set on the user’s device fordisplaying a book. The page of the book is then saved to their ownprivate library, which the user can view and modify whenever they want.Caching is done automatically on the device in the background so theuser doesn’t have to wait to open the next page. Caching is also doneserver-side incase a user requests the same book and page that matchestheir configuration and has already been cut up into chunks — it’s donewhen a user opens the page of a book assuming they are going to want toopen the next page — and it’s further done when a user performs asearch assuming they are going to want to open one of the booksreturned from the search.
